Pictures and Video!!!

There is nothing better to lift your spirits than new photos and VIDEO of your baby!!!
I am actually sick today (day 2 of flu symptoms.. ugh.. thank god it's a nanny-day for Maya) - so much so that I just now managed to drag my pathetic body to my computer at 11 am.
Normally I have been online by 8 am, so this is very late for me.. especially when I know that there are traveling families this week who could be meeting our little angel in Kolkata!!
So I log on at 11 and.. lo and behold!! Photos AND video waiting in my email queue! Most exciting!
I'm posting both pics and the video to this blog post.
Isn't our little Devika {Satarupa} amazing?!
Say it with me.. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! :)))
{HUGE thanks to the traveling family who took the time to shoot these for us - THANK YOU THANK YOU!}

From The Beach To The Slopes!

It was quite a week last week - on Sunday we were on the beach.. and on Thursday we were on the slopes! I have to say that the mountains were fun, but now the beach feels like it was months ago!
Maya had an incredibly good time -
she got the chance to sled for the first time! She completely loved it.. I think she'll be on skis next year. She was very put-out that she could not go on the bunny slope with her little friends - especially the chair-lift. I guess I'll need to learn to ski, or I might not see much of my family during winter months as the girls grow older! ..though I have no problem hanging out in the lodge with a cappuccino...

Here's a funny Maya tidbit for the day: Maya LOVES blueberries. Unfortunately, she can't pronounce them quite right. It took me a awhile to understand that when she kept saying 'I want BOOBIES!' .. she meant 'blueberries'. BAAHAA! Yeah girl, don't we all?

Hola!

Sadly, we are back home from Mexico. ;) It was a fabulous trip - the resort was AMAZING!! We stayed at Grand Velas, Nuevo Vallarta. We did a time-share trade, and it was even better than expected. Normally time-share trades for hotel/resorts have small rooms.. but we had a suite that must have been over 1000 sq feet.

I could not give it a higher recommendation - the service, the accomodations, the food... sigh. It's so harsh to return to reality and not have someone catering to your needs 24/7. Where is my room service? My pina colada? Sniff.. sniff.
Maya had a fantastic time also. She was, again, the hit of the resort. She makes friends everywhere she goes! Too bad there were no other kiddies her age to play with. She enjoyed her non-alcoholic coladas also. :)))

To my friends and fam waiting to see trip photos.. they are coming. I'm uploading one. We have a ton of them and I haven't had time to sort thru and upload. Next week, I promise!!

No time for updates right now, just wanted to say hello and we made it back with no Montezuma's revenge this time!! We are off to the mountains for the weekend.. and there are huge snowstorms beginning today. I hope we miss them when driving, as I am a completely paranoid back-seat driver on snowy mountain roads.

Have a great weekend!

A Few More Glimpses

..of our new baby!
What a sweetie!
Btw, we are keeping a piece of her Bengali-given name, and naming her:
Devika Noelle Sata. Yipes.. long name.. but we did that for Maya also (Maya Jasmine Rekha). We think that it is important for her to carry a piece of her past with her into the future.

Devika Noelle

Please join us in welcoming the newest addition to our family ~ Devika Noelle! {DAY-va-ka}
Born on August 13th, 2007.. and officially welcomed into our family today!
We were sent answers to our questions today from India (an amazingly fast response!!), and they were exactly what we had hoped and prayed to hear. Our girl is a little fighter.. and she is doing very well. We hear that she is cooing and smiling.. can lift her head.. and can roll over onto her stomach!!
Now comes the super-difficult waiting period!! Please join us in praying that little Devika will be home with us very soon. The legal process can take up to 6-8 months, but of course we are praying that it is extremely speedy!!

The name Devika Noelle was chosen by us, and means 'Little Goddess/Derived From God' / 'Born on Christmas'. She is definitely a little goddess (our 2nd little princess/goddess!), and she was referred to us (born into our hearts) at Christmas.. so we thought that 'little Christmas goddess' was very appropriate!
We can't wait to meet you, little Devika! Hooray - It is a very special day!

And so we wait..

Argh. There are questions, and so we wait. I truly hate to wait at this point. I know that it is the right thing to do.. but it is not easy. A big part of me is screaming 'GO'.. and a much smaller and logical/rational side is whispering 'make an informed decision'. Meanwhile, there is a child waiting on this decision.. and every day that we delay our decision, is a day that the child waits.. and a day that we wait.. and a day that we potentially miss being together.
For those of you out there who battled infertility.. the emotions during this time are a bit like POAS after a looong wait for the right moment.. and then not quite being able to make out the result. Dim the lights, turn it to a 42.5 degree angle, squint your left eye and it looks like a....
Ha.. that comparison just reminded me of fertility forums that I used to be on, and seeing people post photographs of their results b/c they were not sure what they said and they wanted other opinions! That's how I feel - though I require interpretation by someone in a different country and time-zone with no access to internet (omg!).
Anyhow, this might be a female thing.. I don't know. I do know that dh is not stressing over this.. he is calm and just accepting the wait to hear more information. Which, frankly, is not helpful either! You know how it is - when you are feeling the need to obsess over something like this, you want companionship on that road! Oh well. What shall be shall be. I guess it's a good time to put my mind on other things.. like the fact that we are flying to Mexico in a few days, and I am completely unprepared. I'm not sure if any of Maya's summery clothing will work for her, as she seems to be getting taller every day! And I know that her sandals won't fit. ACKACK! I had forgotten shoes!
Ok.. new obsession to concentrate on for a few days. :)

3 Hours, 45 Minutes

..until our conference call with the Int'l Adoption Clinic pediatrician.
Praying for a good report!
Definitely hoping that there aren't many questions (ok .. ANY .. questions) that we need to ask of the Indian doctors. I'm finding it difficult to be patient now! :)

..stay tuned!
