Maya's 1st Dance Recital

Oh my gosh - how cute was this! Maya's little dance class had a recital last Friday night. It was seriously amazing, but she pretty much participated in her part. :) I was impressed as it was ~100 degrees in the building, past her bedtime, and a complete chaotic cluster.

Here is our little dancer getting ready for her big debut! Yes, it was very difficult to keep that tutu from sliding down. The girl is never going to have a big-bum issue!

Doesn't she look oh-so-sweet-and-innocent?
Hard to believe this is the same girl who made 3 or 4 other ballerinas cry that night. {eye roll}
She likes to grab other kid's clothing if she likes it, and she has a serious grip. Takes awhile to separate her, and by the time it happens, the other child is normally starting to freak out. Obviously this is more difficult to control when she is feeling melty.. so you can imagine how many times it occurred - or almost occurred - that evening.

However.. one of the moms, after her little dancer fell over after she and Maya randomly bumped into each other a teeny bit.. called my child 'vicious'. I thought that was somewhat over-exaggerated.
Her little clumsy ballerina is seen randomly spinning and falling at least 5x on my video - nothing to do with my daughter. Poor thing's mom is rude and pushy. The woman yelled at her 2!! yr old constantly during class (it was a mom and tot class). Thank god that class is over.. I did not like that woman.

Here is a more appropriate depiction of my baby. :)

Inching Closer..

At this point in the process, we rejoice at every tiny step forward - because there are just not that many steps left!
Today we found out that CARA
has re-issued the license to the orphanage in Kolkata! It is in the mail and should be delivered sometime next week. Once the orphanage has the license in-hand, the judge can move forward in hearing the cases that he is holding. Please Mr Judge - make up for the time that you delayed us and hear our case ASAP!!
I guess now we can start obsessing over email again, knowing that we could get news at any time..
During my free time, I've had my camera out more lately. I spent some time in my backyard the other day and captured the shots you see of the Columbine flowers. Columbines are pretty cool - especially as they are growing in patches, wild, near the stream in our backyard. It looks as if we actually planted them. I wish all the weeds were this pretty.. By the way, click on the photo above to see the bee. We are actually overrun with them right now. Maybe THIS is where all the bees have gone? ;)
Happy Father's Day Weekend!! We have a fun small trip planned - can't wait!! We might actually use our boat for the first time since we moved here. w00t!

New Photo!

Here is our little Devika at 9 months (12 1/2 lbs now).
We're still in delay-mode, unfortunately.. but we were told that CARA did the orphanage visit (which is hopefully one of the last steps in the process) and was impressed by the level of care at ISRC. I pray that this means they will get the recertification processed IMMEDIATELY! It is so hard to think that the judge can still put us off for months once the recertification is complete. At this point I guess it is just a matter of faith. Can't obsess over it as we have absolutely no control.
{yeah riiiiiight}
I don't see any way to have Devika home for her 1st birthday, but maybe a miracle will happen..
